How attester.no works

attester.no proves a certificate is genuine without storing information about you.

What happens to your submission?

  1. You fill in your organization’s form. The data is stored until the organization has checked it and approved the certificate.
  2. When the organization approves, the certificate is generated as a PDF with a QR code, and you receive it from the organization. This QR code is what verifies that the certificate is valid.
  3. After the certificate is issued, your data is automatically deleted from the database after 24 hours. All that remains is a “fingerprint”.

How to verify a certificate

  1. Scan the QR code on the certificate with your phone.
  2. The verification page opens and shows green if the certificate is genuine and unaltered, red if something is off.

How can the certificate be verified if the contents aren’t stored?

Only the QR code on the certificate carries your personal data. When someone scans the code, the verification page computes the fingerprint of the data in the code and compares it with the fingerprint we stored when the certificate was issued. If they match, the certificate is genuine and unaltered. Change as little as one character and they no longer match.

A certificate you can trust, and an organization that does not have to look after your data. Everybody wins, and nobody is left guarding an archive.
